There are days when being a mother is just downright tiring and then there are days that make it abundantly clear that being a mother is a gift and an honor. Friday was one of those "gift" days. Katy's third grade class held a "Petit Dejuner" or "Little Lunch" for those of us who don't speak French. The classroom was decorated perfectly. Each student was dressed and named for the part. We were escorted to our tables and had our own personal waiter for the lunch. There was Perrier to drink and salad, croissants, french bread, fresh fruit, vegetables and spreads. It was delicious.
Lunch was followed by entertainment. Before the singing and drama began, each table was provided with a box of Kleenex, which of course was needed by this mother. I had the honor of reading a stanza from a poem about mothers, and I barely made it through the reading of that without tearing up.
The most amazing thing about this lunch was the insight of an eight year old. We were presented with an "All about Me" laminated poem. If the whole world could think like her, it would be a better world.....

Who loves my mommy, daddy, sisters, my annoying little brother and my whole family

Who loves my mother with all my heart
Who plans to have a great job and a great family
Who plans to have a great life in heaven
Mom all of my plans make me happy. But you make me happier because I love you with all of my heart.
Who can't come away from a day like that and not feel blessed?
